SUTON
SUTON, a Serbian/Croatian word for “Twilight”, came into existence in 2014 under the creative vision of Hylinn. The primary objective behind its formation was to serve as an auditory conduit, channelling elements of gloom, abstraction, and the myriad horrors of our world in a distinctive manner.
In its initial lineup, the band featured the creator, Hylinn, and R.D. This duo configuration saw the release of the split material “Balkanian Narko Doom” in collaboration with the Slovenian band Chains in 2016. However, following this release, Suton entered a hiatus.
After almost six years of silence, SUTON re-emerged with a renewed lineup. This time, alongside Hylinn, Insanus, an esteemed figure in the Balkan black metal scene, joined the ranks.
While initially conceived as a drone/doom metal outfit, SUTON underwent a sonic evolution with the creation of the “Sacrilegious” album. Unconstrained by musical boundaries, this audio entity’s sound expanded to encompass a broad spectrum. The debut material features elements ranging from the atmospheric nuances of black and doom metal, infused with death metal riffs, to sludge and southern passages, enriching the sonic tapestry of the band’s inaugural full-length offering.
Over a decade, SUTON may not have showcased an extensive discography, a fact attributed to periods of creative hibernation. However, since mid-2021, the two masterminds steering this auditory entity have diligently dedicated themselves to meticulously crafting their inaugural full-length album, ultimately unveiling it to the world in April of 2023.
