ZVIJER
In mid-2013, Zvijer, translating to “Beast” in English, embarked on its putrid audio conquest. The band’s founders, Knjaz and Vozd, were soon joined by Goat on bass guitar and Havohej on guitars.
Within this lineup, Zvijer recorded the demo single “Svi putevi ka smrti vode” (All Roads Lead Toward Death). However, dissatisfaction with the final work of the producer led to the removal of this material from all music providers.
Zvijer went on hiatus until 2016, when they released the single “Heretical Balkanian Sabbathism,” welcoming Insanus into the fold alongside Vozd and Knjaz.
This trio recorded their first full-length album, “Vjecnost Trulezi” (Eternity of Rot), released in 2017. That same year, Vozd decided to depart from Zvijer, leaving the band as a duo with Knjaz and Insanus.
Three years later, Insanus and Knjaz unveiled another full-length album titled “Navia (Zadah jalovog svijeta)” (Navia (Breath of the Barren World)), solidifying Zvijer’s distinctive style as “Balkanian barbaric black metal.” The album’s fury and sombre atmosphere shaped the band’s audio identity.
In 2021, the EP “Pod balkanskim nocnim nebom” (Under the Balkan Night Sky) showcased a different facet of Zvijer, evoking a gloomy and sordid atmosphere.
As Zvijer celebrated its 10 years of existence in 2023, the Insanus and Knjaz duo marked this milestone by recording a new, third full-length album, “Zvjerovanje” (Beast Belief) which will be released in the first half of 2024. This release is anticipated to solidify Zvijer’s position at the pinnacle of the ex-Yugoslav scene, the realm to which this duo rightfully belongs.
