In a swift return, merely months after their second album, “Navia (Zadah Jalovog Svijeta),” Zvijer unveils their most sombre opus yet. This EP, comprising five haunting tracks, encapsulates 32 minutes of purebred Balkanian barbaric black metal, drawing inspiration from the wraiths trailing the wastelands beneath the Balkan night sky, half-dead and shrouded in shadows.
Insanus and Knjaz showcased a marked departure in musical approach compared to their previous works. The songs stretch longer, adopting an atmospheric quality akin to mantras that guide listeners through a half-hour journey into the possessed visions of death and misanthropy strewn across the Balkans. The guitars resonate with the chilling essence dominating the nocturnal realms, while the drums invoke grim thoughts. Vocals, singing in homage to ancient times and horned gods, add a layer of glory to the dark narrative.
With this new release, Zvijer reveals an entirely novel facet of its sound, leading audiences into uncharted territories yet to be saturated with obscurity. The EP stands as a testament to Zvijer’s evolving musical identity, inviting listeners to explore the depths of the unexplored spaces woven with darkness.
