The horde known as Zvijer (eng. the Beast) has defined their debut album as Balkanian Barbaric Black Metal, a descriptor that perfectly encapsulates the essence of their musical offering. On “Vjecnost Trulezi” (Eternity of Decay), spanning nearly forty minutes, Zvijer unfurls a maniacally black metal soundscape reminiscent of the genre’s second wave.
The album comprises eight tracks, each manifesting ancient Balkan legends, embracing themes of death, a visceral disdain toward humanity, and a celebration of the old Balkanian ways of life. Zvijer’s sonic exploration mirrors the intensity of the genre’s second wave, creating an immersive experience for the listener.
Regarded as one of the finest releases in the region, “Vječnost Truleži” stands as a testament to Zvijer’s prowess in weaving together the raw power of black metal with the rich tapestry of Balkan history and folklore.
